Newburgh Community Land Bank Awarded $2.4 million by NYS Attorney General

Following an extensive planning and application process, the Newburgh Community Land Bank is pleased to have been awarded almost $2.5 million for rehabilitation, remediation and redevelopment on and around Lander and Chambers Street in Newburgh. Though competing with land banks is significantly larger cities, the Newburgh Community Land bank obtained the third largest award. The Land Bank will partner with other local developers and contractors as well as the Newburgh Preservation Association, who will help prioritize preservation efforts.

This funding will build upon the investments already being made in the neighborhood such as the Habitat for Humanity homes at 45 and 47 Chambers Street, the mixed use building soon to start construction at 13-15 Chambers Street, a new streetscape, and significant planning dollars invested in the neighborhood by the Land Bank and the City.

The Newburgh Community Land Bank will host a public meeting to introduce its plans for the project, among other things, this year following the director's brief maternity leave. Stay tuned for scheduling details.
